On 18 September 2026 the ISO standards revision calendar has two open management-system transitions with published deadlines: ISO 9001:2026, published 16 September 2026, with transitions ending 30 September 2029, and ISO 14001:2026, published 15 April 2026, with transitions ending 30 April 2029. ISO/IEC 27001:2022 transitions closed on 31 October 2025. ISO/IEC 27701:2025 is a standalone certifiable privacy standard. ISO 45001 is at ballot with publication expected in 2027, ISO 22000 is under revision with no date, and ISO 22301:2019 has no revision published. Since 1 January 2026 the transition periods are set by Global ACI, which took over from IAF and ILAC.
The ISO standards revision calendar on 18 September 2026
Eight standards matter to most certified organisations in the Philippines, and the table below gives each one’s current edition, its publication date, the transition document that governs it, the transition deadline and its status today. Two rows carry a Global ACI deadline for management-system certificates, one row a Global ACI deadline for personnel certification bodies, one row a closed transition, and four rows a current edition with a revision either in progress or not published.

Every date in the table is from a published source listed under Sources; nothing is an estimate. Where a revision is in progress, the status is stated as ISO’s process stage and no publication date is given unless ISO has given one. The earlier version of this page listed only ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO 22301:2019; it was last edited in November 2022 and is replaced in full.
Who sets transition periods: Global ACI since 1 January 2026
ISO publishes standards; it does not decide how long certificates to a superseded edition remain valid. That decision belongs to the accreditation community, and since 1 January 2026 it is made by Global ACI, Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, which took over the roles of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and ILAC on that date. Global ACI publishes transition requirements as documents in the series Global ACI-TECH-3-TR, each carrying its deadline in its reference number.
The three transition documents on the calendar show the pattern. Global ACI-TECH-3-TR 2029-09-30 (M), Transition Requirements for ISO 9001:2026, version 1.0, was issued on 4 September 2026 and published on 16 September 2026, the day ISO published the standard. Global ACI-TECH-3-TR 2029-04-30 (M), for ISO 14001:2026, was published on 14 September 2026, five months after the standard. Global ACI-TECH-3-TR 2029-03-31 (M), for ISO/IEC 17024:2026, was published on 10 September 2026. Each binds the accreditation bodies that are members of Global ACI, which in turn bind the certification bodies they accredit, which is how a deadline set in one document reaches every certified organisation in the Philippines.
Transitions that began before 2026 ran under IAF resolutions and informative documents. ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is the last such transition on this calendar; it closed on 31 October 2025, before Global ACI took over on 1 January 2026. Any published statement that a deadline for a standard published in 2026 still awaits IAF is out of date: for ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026 the deadlines are set, by Global ACI, in the documents above.
How a transition works in general
A management-system transition follows the same sequence whichever standard is revised: ISO publishes the new edition; Global ACI publishes the transition requirements with a deadline, normally three years from publication; accreditation bodies become ready to assess certification bodies against the new edition; certification bodies declare their transition and have their accreditation extended; new certifications to the old edition stop from a cut-off date; and every existing certificate is transitioned by the deadline or becomes invalid.
For the certified organisation the sequence produces four practical rules. First, no certification body can issue an accredited certificate to the new edition until its own accreditation has been extended, so the earliest transition audits follow the accreditation milestones rather than the publication date. For ISO 9001:2026 the accreditation bodies are to be ready by 31 March 2027 and to complete decisions by 30 September 2027; for ISO 14001:2026 the equivalent dates are 31 October 2026 and 30 April 2027. Second, the transition audit is normally combined with a scheduled surveillance or recertification audit, may be a special audit, and may be conducted remotely by ICT; it reviews the changed requirements, changes to the organisation’s context and any other changes the system needs, with additional audit time considered under a justified calculation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1. Third, an internal audit and a management review to the new edition must precede the transition audit. Fourth, the final year of every transition is a queue, because a large share of certificate holders leave it late; the ISO 9001:2008 to 2015 transition, which closed in September 2018, showed this in the Philippines and the current transitions will show it again unless organisations plan for 2028.
The cut-off for new certifications to the old edition is the date first-time organisations should watch. For ISO 9001 it is 31 March 2028; for ISO 14001 it is 31 October 2027. Standard by standard: what each entry means for you
Each row of the calendar carries a different instruction, from “transition by 2028” to “nothing to do”. The notes below say which, in the order of the table, and link to the page that covers each standard where one exists.
ISO 9001:2026. The sixth edition, published 16 September 2026, cancels and replaces ISO 9001:2015 and incorporates Amendment 1:2024 on climate change. The changes concentrate in the separation of risks (6.1.2) from opportunities (6.1.3), quality culture and ethical behaviour (5.1.1 i), 7.3 e)), the quality policy’s link to context and strategy (5.2.1 e)), the planning of changes (6.3 e) to g)) and the management review inputs (9.3.2 c), g), h)); no new mandatory documents are added and there is no 10.3. ISO 14001:2026. The fourth edition, published 15 April 2026. Its transition, under Global ACI-TECH-3-TR 2029-04-30 (M), ends on 30 April 2029, five months before the ISO 9001 deadline, with accreditation bodies ready by 31 October 2026, certification-body declarations by 31 January 2027, accreditation decisions by 30 April 2027 and initial certifications only to the 2026 edition from 31 October 2027. ISO/IEC 27001:2022. The transition from the 2013 edition closed on 31 October 2025. Every accredited ISO/IEC 27001 certificate is now to the 2022 edition, and an organisation shown a certificate to the 2013 edition dated after that closure should treat it as invalid. Nothing further is due on ISO/IEC 27001 itself.
ISO/IEC 27701:2025. The privacy information management standard was published in 2025 as a standalone certifiable standard, replacing ISO/IEC 27701:2019, which was certified as an extension of an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate. No Global ACI transition requirements document for it is listed on global-aci.org on 18 September 2026, so organisations certified to the 2019 edition should ask their certification body, in writing, what transition arrangements apply and by when. ISO 45001. The 2018 edition remains current. The revision is at ballot and publication is expected in 2027; no transition document exists and none can until the standard is published. Organisations certified to ISO 45001:2018 have nothing to transition yet and should not accept any offer to “prepare for ISO 45001:2027” against a draft.
ISO 22000. The 2018 edition remains current. The revision is in progress and the ballot result is under evaluation; ISO has given no publication date. As for ISO 45001, there is nothing to transition and nothing to audit against.
ISO 22301:2019. The current edition of the business continuity standard, which replaced the 2012 edition. No revision is published and none is on this calendar. Certificates to the 2019 edition continue as normal.
ISO/IEC 17024:2026. The third edition of the standard for bodies certifying persons, published in March 2026. Its transition, under Global ACI-TECH-3-TR 2029-03-31 (M), ends on 31 March 2029. It applies to personnel certification bodies rather than to organisations holding management-system certificates; it is on this calendar because organisations that rely on certified persons, or that operate a certification scheme for persons, will see their certification body transition during the period.
How to keep several certificates in step
An organisation holding ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates, with or without ISO 45001 and ISO/IEC 27001, should run one transition project timed to the earliest deadline, which today is 30 April 2029 for ISO 14001:2026. One gap analysis, one plan, one internal audit and one management review can cover both 2026 editions, and the certification body can conduct both transition audits in the same visit, which reduces the additional audit time each would otherwise need.
The alignment works because both standards use the same ten-clause structure, so context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement sit in the same places in both, and an integrated system handles each once. What differs, the environmental aspects, compliance obligations and operational controls on the ISO 14001 side and the risks, opportunities and quality culture and ethical behaviour requirements on the ISO 9001 side, is handled in the same plan with separate owners. For ISO 45001 and ISO 22000 holders the instruction is to keep the current certificates healthy through surveillance and to make no changes against a draft. When either standard is published, Global ACI will publish its transition requirements and this calendar will carry the row.

Is the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 transition still open? No. It closed on 31 October 2025. Every accredited ISO/IEC 27001 certificate is now to the 2022 edition. A certificate to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 dated after the closure is not an accredited certificate and should be queried with the issuer’s accreditation body; the certificate verification guide explains how.
What should ISO 45001 and ISO 22000 certificate holders do now? Nothing beyond normal surveillance. ISO 45001 is at ballot with publication expected in 2027 and ISO 22000’s ballot result is under evaluation with no date. No transition document can exist before publication, and preparing against a draft risks work that the final text changes. When either standard is published, Global ACI will set the transition period and this calendar will carry it.
Can we transition ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 in one audit? Yes, if your certification body is accredited for both 2026 editions and your integrated system has completed one internal audit and one management review to both. The certification body conducts both transition audits in the same visit and calculates the additional audit time once.
