The standards world converges on Paris this week: ISO’s Annual Meeting 2026 opens today and runs through 2 October, with the new ISO 9001 on the agenda. Behind the headlines, the transition machinery set in motion in September keeps turning, including a date worth noting this Thursday. Here is what Philippine business owners and compliance managers should know.
ISO Annual Meeting 2026 opens today in Paris
ISO’s flagship gathering runs from 28 September to 2 October under the theme “Building trust in a changing world”, according to the official announcement. The programme spans artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, water resilience and climate adaptation, and resilient trade including digital product passports — plus a dedicated session on how the new edition of ISO 9001 helps organizations build trust strategically. Sessions are open to online participants with live interpretation, so Philippine compliance teams can follow along without leaving Manila. Expect announcements through the week; we will cover anything significant in next Monday’s roundup.
ISO 9001:2026: the digitally enhanced edition arrives 1 October
Two weeks after publication, the roll-out of ISO 9001:2026 continues. ISO’s launch announcement confirms the standard will be part of ISO’s first offering of digitally enhanced content, available from 1 October 2026, alongside the conventional editions. Certification bodies have meanwhile begun publishing their transition guidance — SGS is one example — so expect the 2026 edition to come up when your next surveillance audit is planned. The formal transition window runs to 30 September 2029, and accreditation of certification bodies for the new edition will take well into 2027, so treat any offer of an accredited ISO 9001:2026 certificate today with caution. The sensible move this quarter is a gap review against the new edition and a decision on which audit cycle will carry your transition.
Germany’s DAkkS joins Global ACI
On 23 September, Global ACI announced that DAkkS, Germany’s national accreditation body, has joined as a Full Member and a signatory of its Multilateral Recognition Arrangement. Global ACI — the successor body formed from the merger of the IAF and ILAC — is the organization that set this month’s formal transition deadlines for ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026, and its membership roll determines whose accredited certificates enjoy mutual recognition across borders. German certification bodies are active in the Philippine market, typically operating under DAkkS accreditation, so this confirms continuity of international recognition for their certificates as the post-merger accreditation structure falls into place.
Still waiting: ISO 45001, ISO 9002 and ISO 22000 ballot results
No movement this week on the three pending draft ballots. The enquiry votes on ISO/DIS 45001, the revised occupational health and safety standard, and ISO/DIS 9002, the application guidance being aligned with ISO 9001:2026, both closed on 9 September and remain under evaluation — with the ISO 45001 project page now pointing to publication in the first half of 2027. The ISO 22000 ballot result has been pending since 30 July. ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 22000:2018 remain fully valid in the meantime.
