The most consequential ballot of this revision cycle closed this past week: national standards bodies have now voted on the final draft of ISO 9001:2026. Here is what moved across the major management system standards over the past week, what is officially confirmed, and what it means for certified organizations in the Philippines.
ISO 9001:2026 — FDIS ballot closed 9 July; September publication on track
Voting on the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) of ISO 9001 closed on 9 July 2026, according to ISO/TC 176/SC 2, the committee responsible for the standard. Ballot results have not yet been announced, and the official ISO project page continues to show publication expected in September 2026. To be clear: ISO 9001:2026 is not yet published, and no organization can be certified against it today. Philippine certificate holders should keep operating to ISO 9001:2015 and use the coming weeks for awareness and early gap planning.
ISO 45001 revision: draft ballot underway, publication expected 2027
The revision of ISO 45001, the occupational health and safety management standard, has reached the Draft International Standard (DIS) stage, with the ballot running from 16 June to 8 September 2026, per LRQA. An early-July review by DNV describes the proposed changes as moderate: stronger requirements on work-related well-being, more attention to the needs of a diverse workforce, expanded hazard identification covering modern working arrangements, new expectations on occupational health and return-to-work, and tighter control of externally provided products and services. Publication is expected in 2027, with a three-year transition anticipated. Philippine manufacturers, construction firms and shared-services operators certified to ISO 45001:2018 need no action yet — but the direction is now visible.
ISO/IEC 27701:2025 — accredited certification reaches the market
SGS announced on 1 July that it has received ANAB accreditation to certify organizations against ISO/IEC 27701:2025, one of the first accredited offerings for the new standalone privacy information management standard. Under the UKAS transition arrangements, accreditation bodies began assessing certification bodies in May 2026, and every certified organization must complete its transition by 31 October 2028. The practical takeaway for Philippine BPO and IT-BPM companies handling US and EU personal data: standalone, internationally recognized privacy certification is now genuinely available — and unlike the 2019 edition, it no longer requires an ISO 27001 certificate as a prerequisite.
ISO 22000: the 2027 edition is taking shape
Following the close of the draft consultation on 17 June, French standards body AFNOR confirms that the next edition of ISO 22000 is expected in 2027. The draft strengthens three areas Philippine food manufacturers and exporters should watch: food defense against deliberate contamination, food fraud vulnerability, and food safety culture, alongside clearer definitions of critical control points (CCPs) and operational prerequisite programmes (OPRPs). Companies certified to ISO 22000:2018 or FSSC 22000 should expect transition planning to begin in earnest next year.
