The biggest open question of this revision cycle now has an answer: ISO 9001:2026 has an official publication date. ISO’s quality-management subcommittee confirmed this week that the final draft passed its ballot and that the new edition arrives on 16 September 2026. Here is what Philippine certificate holders and compliance teams should know, plus two other revision clocks ticking toward deadlines.
It’s official: ISO 9001:2026 will be published on 16 September 2026
On 7 August, ISO/TC 176/SC 2 — the subcommittee responsible for ISO 9001 — announced that the Final Draft International Standard has been approved “with overwhelming international support,” and that the sixth edition is scheduled for publication on 16 September 2026. The official project page independently confirms the standard is in its final production steps, listed as “under publication.” For Philippine organizations, the practical position is unchanged but the timeline is now concrete: ISO 9001:2015 remains the only version you can be certified against until the new edition is released and certification bodies are accredited for it, and the formal transition period — historically three years, set by accreditation-body resolution — should be confirmed around publication. With roughly five weeks to go, the sensible use of August is a clause-by-clause gap review against the final draft’s known changes, a leadership briefing, and a budget line for transition support in 2027 planning.
Final month to comment on the ISO 45001 draft
The ballot on the Draft International Standard of the revised occupational health and safety standard closes on 8 September 2026 — the official project page shows the twelve-week vote began on 16 June, and the revised edition is still expected in 2027. The draft’s direction, including stronger expectations on psychosocial risk and worker well-being, is now effectively fixed unless national standards bodies push back. Philippine safety professionals who want local working conditions reflected in the final text have about four weeks left to route comments through the Bureau of Philippine Standards.
ISO 22000: ballot closed, verdict pending
Voting on the draft of the revised food safety management standard closed on 30 July, and the official project page now shows the results under evaluation. Depending on the outcome, the text either advances toward a final draft or goes back to the committee for another round — either way, the new edition replacing ISO 22000:2018 remains expected in 2027. Philippine food manufacturers, processors and exporters, including FSSC 22000 certificate holders, need take no action yet beyond pencilling the transition into 2027–2028 planning.
