Philippine BPOs lose deals in vendor-risk review, not in sales calls. Before an offshore client hands over customer data, payments or back-office work, its security and procurement teams audit the provider — and certified management systems are the fastest way to pass. Sterling has taken BPO and shared-services companies like Hybrids and Unity Communications through ISO 27001, and implements the full stack the industry’s clients ask for.
The BPO certification stack, in order
ISO 27001 comes first — it is the credential vendor-risk teams name explicitly, covering the controls they audit: access management, asset registers, incident response, supplier security. ISO 9001 pairs with it for delivery quality and SLA discipline. Then the stack extends by client profile: ISO 27701 where PII processing and GDPR exposure matter (see our ISO 27701 for BPOs guide), ISO 22301 where clients demand continuity guarantees for their operations, PCI DSS wherever card payments touch your floor, and SOC 2 reports for US clients whose auditors think in Trust Services Criteria rather than ISO clauses. The free consultation maps your actual client requirements first — certifying beyond what your pipeline demands is money spent on plaques.
Implementation that respects a 24/7 floor
BPO operations cannot pause for a consulting project. We run implementation shift-aware: training sessions repeated across shifts, evidence collection worked around program schedules, floor controls designed with operations leads rather than imposed on them, and client-specific security requirements folded into one system instead of one binder per client. The endpoint is an audit where agents answer naturally because the controls are how the floor already works — and a certificate your sales team can hand to the next prospect’s vendor-risk questionnaire.
What it costs and how long it takes
ISO 27001 for a single-site BPO typically runs three to five months; adding ISO 9001 or ISO 27701 to the same project stretches the calendar far less than running them separately, because the management system spine is shared. Cost follows seat count, sites, client-security complexity and existing documentation — start with the ISO 27001 cost guide, then request an itemized quotation. Certificates come only from accredited certification bodies, verifiable on IAF CertSearch — exactly what your clients’ auditors will check.

ISO Certification for BPO & Call Center Companies in the Philippines — FAQs
Which ISO certification do BPO clients actually require?
ISO 27001 is the one named in most vendor-risk questionnaires, because it certifies the security controls clients audit. ISO 9001 commonly rides alongside for delivery quality, ISO 27701 where PII and GDPR exposure matter, ISO 22301 for continuity commitments, PCI DSS for payments, and SOC 2 for US clients — mapped to your pipeline in a free consultation.
How long does ISO 27001 take for a call center?
Three to five months for most single-site operations: gap assessment, risk assessment and Statement of Applicability, control implementation, shift-aware training, internal audit, then the certification body’s two-stage audit. Multi-site and heavily client-customized environments run longer.
Do we need SOC 2 if we already have ISO 27001?
Sometimes — they answer different audiences. ISO 27001 is a certified management system recognized globally; SOC 2 is an attestation report US clients’ auditors often request. The control work overlaps heavily, so we implement once and map the evidence to both rather than running two disconnected projects.
Will implementation disrupt our production floor?
No — it is designed around it. Sessions repeat across shifts, evidence collection follows program schedules, and controls are built with operations leads so they match how the floor works. The disruptive version of ISO is the paper system bolted on a week before an audit; that is what we exist to prevent.
