A checklist tells you what changed in ISO 14001:2026. This gap check tells you where your environmental management system stands: answer twenty plain-language questions on the new and changed requirements, each with its clause reference, and get a scored readiness report on screen within ten minutes, with your result by area, the items certification bodies test first and the actions to take in order. Built for Philippine organisations certified to ISO 14001:2015 that need a transition plan, and for first-time implementers who want to build to the 2026 edition from day one.
How this differs from a checklist
Our written transition checklist sequences the migration step by step. This tool scores you. Every answer carries a weight: the items certification bodies test first at a transition audit (the five environmental conditions in context, the climate-change decision, aspects evaluated for emergency situations, the standalone risks-and-opportunities record, planning of changes, externally provided processes, products and services, the documents that still cite 2015, and an internal audit and management review run against the new edition) count double. The result is a readiness percentage, a breakdown across context and leadership, planning, operation and evaluation, and transition readiness, and a ranked action list. It is a screening, not an audit; the wording of ISO 14001:2026 prevails.
Who it is for
Certified organisations planning the move from ISO 14001:2015: use the score to size the work and to brief your certification body about the transition audit. First-time implementers: use it to confirm the 2026 changes are in the design of your system before the Stage 1 audit. Group EHS managers: run it per site and compare the four area scores; the pattern usually shows where the corporate procedures are thin, and where the site-level compliance chain (permits, haulers, treaters) is.
Want the transition run for you? Sterling takes a certified organisation from gap report to transition audit with one accountable team: documentation, training, internal audit and audit support, timed to the surveillance or recertification visit already on your calendar.
What happens next
Your report is on screen and in your inbox with the link to the transition checklist. From there: read the transition deadline and timeline, work through the step-by-step transition checklist, see every change, clause by clause, read how a formal ISO 14001:2026 gap analysis is run, or book a free consultation with a local Filipino lead auditor in Metro Manila, Cebu or Davao to turn the result into a dated plan. Holding ISO 9001 as well? Run the ISO 9001:2026 gap check and plan both transitions as one programme.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the ISO 14001:2026 gap check take?
About ten minutes for twenty questions. Answer with your environmental or EHS manager and one process owner if you can; the report is only as good as the honesty of the answers, and “Partly” or “Not sure” are useful answers that become your action list.
Can I run the gap check again after we have closed some gaps?
Yes, as often as you like. Many organisations run it at the start of the transition, again after the documentation update, and once more before the internal audit. Each run produces a fresh report; compare the scores by area to see where the work has landed.
Is my score shared with anyone, or with my certification body?
No. The report goes to you on screen and by email. Sterling International Consulting stores your details under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) for follow-up only if you ask for a consultation. Certification bodies never see your gap check.
What is the ISO 14001:2026 transition deadline?
30 April 2029, set by Global ACI-TECH-3-TR 2029-04-30 (M), the transition requirements document Global ACI published on 14 September 2026. It binds accreditation bodies and their certification bodies: from 31 October 2027 initial certifications are issued only to ISO 14001:2026, and ISO 14001:2015 certificates are no longer valid after 30 April 2029.
What if my score is low?
A low score at this stage is common and not a problem in itself; the transition window exists for that reason. It means the 2026 changes are not yet in your EMS. The report tells you which items your certification body will test first. Start with a gap analysis against the ISO 14001:2026 standard, then plan the documentation update, training, internal audit and the transition audit date.
